Two Victims Identified in the Ivy League School Incident as Authorities Press On With Hunt for Gunman.

Both young individuals who lost their lives in the recent violent attack at Brown University were honored at the start of the week – while an intensive search for their shooter continued following the release by authorities in Rhode Island of the sole person detained in connection in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

The student Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was described as “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, as stated by the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a gathering on Sunday.

Her role included the vice-presidency of Brown’s division of the College Republicans organization, as the club stated. Karoline Leavitt also expressed condolences on social media, saying in part: “It's indescribable. Keeping in mind her kin and peers, above all her mom and dad.”

An International Student

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, an Uzbek national in his first year of studies at the prestigious university, family members said.

His name was officially acknowledged by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. His ambitions were lofty of becoming a neurosurgeon and aiding others,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a tribute.

Details of the Attack

Nine more persons were hurt in the weekend shooting in the engineering department of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Authorities said on Sunday evening that a 24-year-man arrested in a police operation at a lodging about approximately 17 miles from the university earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“A perpetrator remains free,” said Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you need to change course and head another way, and that is the current situation over the last day or so.”

Ongoing Concerns

The city's mayor, Brett Smiley, admitted: “This will probably generate fresh anxiety for our public”.

The shooter discharged a weapon inside a lecture hall in the building on over the weekend, firing more than 40 rounds from a 9mm handgun, a police source informed the media outlet.

Officers that entered the lodging seized two firearms and two loaded 30-round magazines when the individual was taken into custody, as was reported.

Those Hurt

Regarding the nine injured, one pupil was allowed to go home, stated Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. An additional seven were in serious yet stable state, and one was in critical condition, officials reported on Sunday.

An educational institution, a private academy in North Carolina, said a recent graduate, Kendall Turner, was in the group of seriously hurt victims.

The US ambassador, Jonathan Henick, said he was “deeply saddened” by Umurzokov’s death in a tribute. “We extend our sincere condolences to Mr Umurzokov’s family, companions, and schoolmates and mourn the loss of his promising future.”

The fatal shooting at Brown, the country's seventh most historic higher education institution with about thousands of bachelor's and 3,000 graduate students, took place amid one of at least 392 mass shootings recorded nationally so far in the current year, according to records. Monday was the 349th day of the year.
